Love Your Liver Challenge

I was contacted by Ellie Scott over at We Are Democracy to get involved in the Love Your Liver Challenge to good liver health. The challenge is to abstain from alcohol for 2-3 days every week, which wasn't a problem for me.

The three step approach to a healthy liver:

  1. Take 2-3 days off alcohol every week and drink safely when you do
  2. Exercise regular - which I'm no stranger too
  3. Cut down on sugary and fatty foods
Considering back in the day before embarking on my Health Conscious journey I use to drink nearly every day after work, at home and socially, the effects would leave me feeling rough and yucky.

I was sent a bottle of none alcoholic wine called Eisberg to drink while on the challenge. The taste was surprisingly nice & fruity just like wine and the good thing is you don't get that light headed feeling after drinking two large glasses and that heavy head in the morning. Another great thing about Eisberg wine is that it is less than 34 calories per 125ml glass, Eisberg is the ultimate alcohol free alternative for those looking to cut down and is available in Chardonnay, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Rose.

One day liver health pop up clinics are popping up Nationwide in January 2014, 'Love Your Liver Month' and they are stopping off in Camden (London) Tuesday 21 January at Morrision supermarket offering free health advice and a chance to undergo a non-invasive Fibroscan liver test and to sample Eisberg alcohol-free wine.

So I've booked myself in to have my liver tested, I'm not too worried about the health of my liver, I think it's in pretty good condition but you never know. Think it's important to have a checkup anyway, just like you would have a body MOT to check blood pressure etc. My hubby is coming along to get tested too, he has also volunteered to be a case study.

Why not get involved and take the challenge. You can visit and get your liver tested at these:
