I was contacted by Hench Nutrition to review one of their products. I jumped at the chance and decided on trying their Hemp Protein 50 as I was interested in a more natural protein supplement.
My package arrived and was surprised at all the extra goodies that were enclosed.
What does Hemp Protein taste like?
Suggested use: Mix with water or juice.
Well I mixed it with water as suggested and it wasn’t too bad. If you’re use to drinking green powders like spirulina & wheatgrass then this is nothing. It was very gritty like wet sand and it didn’t mix very well. To see if I could mask the taste a bit better I blended it with a banana, now that was the one. Absolutely delicious. I will continue to mix it with banana when I'm able but it not possible when I'm at work. I'm yet to mix it with juice, got a feeling it will taste just as good as the smoothie.
“Hemp Protein 50 is an excellent protein source containing all Essential Amino Acids (EAAs) at a ratio closer to 'complete' sources of protein such as meat, milk and eggs. It is also full of live enzymes, Essential Fatty Acids (EFA), vitamins and minerals. It is often referred to as the ‘complete protein source’. This is not just because it contains all 20 amino acids (including the 10 that are essential for optimum health) but also due to its high levels of essential fatty acids such as Omega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9.”
Hemp Protein 50 is also well suited to those who require a gluten free diet or suffer from lactose or dairy intolerances. Also, hemp is an extremely popular source of protein for vegetarians and vegans that will aid their ability to repair and build muscle tissue.”
What I loved about Hemp Protein was that it gave me 223kcal per 50g serving which was brilliant, for the amount of times I work out during the week, I knew I would be putting back what I had burnt off. Maintaining good weight is key for me. You can take Hemp Protein 2-3 times a day or as required.
Hench Protein Pancakes
Suggested use: Mix with milk or water.
I loved the pancakes, easy to make and tasted great. I made mine with almond milk & Chia seeds and topped it with bananas, cacao nibs and algave nectar. Perfect for breakfast and as a snack topped with Banana, Blueberries, Total Greek Yoghurt, Peanut Butter & a drizzle of honey.
“Hench Protein Pancakes offer a high protein, low GI, great tasting snack for anyone looking to increase their daily protein intake. Each serving comprises of over 60% protein from four high quality sources rich in amino acids and BCAA's- these are Milk, Whey, Soya and Egg proteins that are all well known for their high nutritional value. Other ingredients include Ultra Fine Oats - which offer the perfect sustained energy source with a low GI, as well as Medium Chain Triglycerides that offer their unique quick release energising effects.”
The strawberry mousse could of been a bit thicker, maybe i should of shaken it for a bit longer..Hmmm The taste was ok, but for someone like me who doesn't take sugar I found this to be too sweet. This is definitely ideal for someone who has a sweet tooth.
This great tasting dessert can be used as a late night snack, due to the slow release amino acid formula, or any other time of the day when you have a craving for something sweet”
Each 40g serving contains over 29g of high quality protein and available in 2 flavours.(Strawberry & Chocolate)
