Insanity : The Insane Cardio Review

ARE YOU READY TO DIG DEEP?

Prepare for the hardest workout in your life ever - INSANITY! I couldn’t think of a better title for this ‘INSANE’ workout. I’ve watched many a TV commercial of the rather athletic Shaun T creator of INSANITY, and thought, Is he on something. How on earth is anyone supposed to partake in such a high intensity workout.

Every since watching the commercials, I've dreamed of one day plucking up the courage to give it ago, that day soon came around when the lovely Tanya who is an qualified and passionate INSANIAC instructor offered up a free place to try out a class by broadcasting a message on the Health Bloggers Facebook Group page which we are both a member of.

I jumped at the chance and asked my fellow fitties Dani & Monica if they fancied it. Quick off the draw “POW” was Monica - There is a class on Thursday... now considering that it was Wednesday evening and I was hoping to attend the following week, we ended up going to the Thursday class in Hammersmith; unfortunately Dani was unable to make it.

“INSANITY is an awesome workout which caters for all fitness levels. It can burn calories for up to 48 hours after the actual workout as it is a form of HIIT training. HIIT training has been taking the fitness world by storm for its myriad of health benefits.”

Travelling by tube from one end of the Hammersmith Line to the other was tiring, we were the first to arrive and were greeted by Tanya, we registered and spoke briefly before the other attendees started to arrive.

The class would last for 50 minutes and would consists of a warm up, stretch, three blocks of interval training, abs/core and a cool down. So we started off with the warm up – seriously that warm up was nothing I had ever encountered before... Jeez! Ok... warm up over, now time for good stuff! The blood, sweat and tears - the start of our interval training exercises with short periods of rest before moving onto the next set. I tell you this is not for the faint hearted, sweat dripped into my eyes, blurring my version.

My mind & body was screaming out STOP!  I was short of breath and grasping for air praying to God that I’d make it through and not keel over. All I wanted to do was drop to the floor. I remember on a number of occasions looking over at Monica and asking her. Why are we doing this?  She was too exhausted to reply and just looked at me with eyes of sorrow. I lost count the amount of squats and jumps that were incorporated I seriously thought the water I had just drank was going to come back up.

What I loved about Tanya was her enthusiasm and encouragement to get you through by also offering some lower options which still had a impact. I can remember her shouting out DIG DEEP!!

What you get from an INSANITY workout

“INSANITY’s high-intensity activity which forces the body to work for longer periods of time at a higher capacity than traditional workouts. As a result, you will experience faster increases in cardiovascular fitness and burn carbohydrates and fat more efficiently – as much as 1,000 calories per hour!”

That incredible fat burn and the amazing total-body transformation INSANITY produces has made it one of the top-selling extreme fitness programs of all time. With nearly 2 million DVDs sold there will never be a time to get involved in LIVE INSANITY classes.

I can see how your body would totally transform from doing this for 60 days using the DVDs. For me a class setting is idea - I always find it easier and more motivating when working with a group of people. Tanya is a great teacher and I’m gutted that I live so far away.

Tanya will help you get into the best shape possible using the INSANITY program. So why not give one of her classes ago you will be INSANE not to.
