I was astounded when I became aware of this restaurant - Vegan Chinese? Are you for real? I couldn’t believe it, and knew I had to get myself down there.
This vibrant cafe style restaurant located on a busy road in Archway, Holloway Road, London, is a popular little place for vegan & non vegans alike.
Loving Hut opens its doors from 12 noon – 3pm for buffet (Monday – Friday) & 6 – 11pm were you can order from the A La Carte Menu & Sat – Sun 6 – 11pm.
Inspired by Supreme Master Ching Hai, Loving Hut is currently the fast growing international vegan fast food chain in the world, with branches already established in Europe including France, Germany, Spain, the UK , and Austria.Loving hut was created with a vision that all beings, human and animals alike, can coexist in peace, love and harmony with each other and the planet, offering and accessible starting point for all, no matter at what stage each may be on the noble transition to a plant-based diet.
So last week I made a reservation for 6pm, Marlon & I got there about 6:15pm and considering they open at 6, the place was already packed. The waitress directed as to our table which had a reserved sign on it, we sat down and were given our menus. We started by ordering some freshly pressed juices, and then decided what we wanted to eat.
They have an extensive menu so you are really spoilt for choice, we decided on sharing a few starters.
Vegetable Spring Rolls, Barbecue Veggie Ribs & Grilled Dumplings – it arrived and was presented on a large platter, decorated with a gorgeous orange flower, we couldn’t wait to tuck in.
I went straight for the Barbecue Veggie Ribs which of course didn’t look anything like ribs but tasted just as good. Marlon (my husband) was taken aback and I mean he was really taken aback, after tasting the veggie ribs, he just sat for a few minutes looking at the plate saying.
“What manna of food is this?”
The favours were delightful, the veggie ribs had a lovely texture to them and the barbecue sauce really made it.
The Spring rolls - were not too oily and had a nice crispy filo pasty. Superb!
The grilled dumplings were not too heavy. I really couldn’t fault any of it. My pallet was happy.
For the mains:
Sweet & Sour Sauce with Veggie Duck – I wasn’t too keen on the veggie duck but Marlon loved it.
Black Bean Sauce with tofu – I’m a lovely of tofu so loved this dish, the sauce wasn’t too salty and the tofu wasn’t overly chewy either. Perfect!
Singapore Rice Noodles (spicy) – wasn't too spicy, may ask for a few fresh chilli to be added when i go next, love spicy foods.
Special Fried Rice – Devine - I love rice, could eat it every day, and I could eat this dish every day all day long, with its amazing flavour and veggie prawns.
Prices are what you would expect from your local Chinese take away so it was very reasonable.
Unfortunately I didn’t get to taste the dessert... gutted! So will definitely be going back for that. I was pretty full from the starters that when the mains came I was unable to eat all of it so we ended up taking the food left over away with us.
Our bill came to about £50 for the both of us which included 3 juices, pretty good I think. I can highly recommend this place, it was bright and clean, the service for great, the place does get very busy so I recommend booking, and you may have a little wait for your food due to the busyness but that really didn’t bother me.
Loving Hut also offer a take away service, which I would definitely take advantage of if I lived closer. We don’t have such places in Essex.
