A Vegan Taste of Barbados

Vegan Places to Eat in Barbados

I flew back home to Barbados (Christ Church) a couple of months ago for some winter sun and to see my parents. It's been a while since I've been back. I sound like I was born there...unfortunately not. I'm from Bajan parentage on my dads side. My folks live out there six months out of the year, when is starts to get cold here in England.

A snap of the beach as
we drove pass on the bus

Having travelled to Barbados before, being a carnivore back then and knowing they are big on their Chicken, Red Meat, Pork, Fish, & Seafood. I did some research online thinking I wouldn't find any vegan places to eat whilst we were out there. I was majorly surprised at what I found.

Here are a few vegan places I highly recommend you try whilst your out in Barbados.

The Good Life, Rockley - Offering an easy dining vegan cuisine experience, art work, shakes, smoothies, clothing, and herbal products.

Merriville Apartments
Rockley, Christ Church

Asian Fusion Brown Rice Salad

Garlic Sesame Brown Rice tossed with carrots, peppers, grilled cabbage, and grilled onions. Topped with almonds, sesame seeds and mandarins. Served on a bed of lettuce and topped with Ginger Sesame Dressing.
Teriyaki Chickin Wrap

An Asian inspired option with Teriyaki chickin and a blend of fresh and grilled veggies. Topped with a Ginger Sesame Dressing.

My husband and I ate here a couple of times and is now our favourite spot we will always come back to this spot when we visit Barbados again. The food is just to die for - fresh, delicious & wholesome and they do some amazing juices, smoothies and raw cheesecakes.

Raw Juice Bar - Fresh & Pressed Raw Juices, Green Smoothies, Protein Shakes, Acai Bowls, Raw & Vegan Treats and More....

Quayside Centre, Hastings,
Christ Church

Oh Goodness Green
Mango, Pineapple, Banana, Spinach, Apple Juice, Orange Juice and Agave.

Chocolate Lovers
Banana, Strawberries, Hemp Protein, Flaxseed, Dark Chocolate Almond Milk.

Organic Earth Health Store - Delicious Fresh Juices, Vegan Live (Raw) Foods, Kasava Shakes, Fresh Fruits Sorbets, Health Products and Exotic Ice Cream.

Pelican Village, Bridgetown,
St Michael
This place is small and mainly an holistic clinic which also sells raw foods and juices. The food menu is different on different days of the week with only a small selection of food to choose from.
Sun Souse
This was so fresh and tasty it contained mushrooms, avocado, cucumber, tomatoes, onions, parsley and coconut jelly, one I will replicating myself.
Rawsome Pizza
The base will either be made with Cassava or Sweet Potato Flour with Golden Flaxseeds and covered with spicy sun sauce, pesto or tomato sauce topped with their choice veggies. I love raw pizza, it take ages to make, I remember making one a while ago and it took me nearly all day just to do the base.

I was rather impressed to find a raw food place out here. I do hope raw food becomes popular and more places open up.

Punchline Juice Bar - Healthy food, Smoothies & Fresh squeezed juices, Vegan desserts.

Hastings Main Road
 Christ Church
Homemade Black Bean Burger

Mango, Coconut & Sorrel Ice-Cream

A lovely little eatery serving some yummy homemade meatless burgers and wraps, staff were really helpful and friendly. They also serve food for carnivores, which may be a problem for some "vegans"

Barbados is such a beautiful island filled with beautiful people I can't wait to go back next year. Until next... Peace & Love!
